Hello, I'm Lea
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Paris, France.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in our long-range itinerary. As with countless expat relocations, it started as a job offer and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed tougher than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.
Why I Built North Velvet Code
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was candid, everyday family insights.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in France continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Lea
